The Mitzvah Guide is a Jewish-owned, search-first directory for bar and bat mitzvah planning. We exist because nobody else was doing the obvious thing: building a vendor directory that’s comprehensive, modern, and honest.
What we do
We list every bar/bat mitzvah vendor we can verify in each metro we launch — venues, kosher caterers, DJs, photographers, montage editors, tutors, rabbis, the works. We don’t take payment for placement in search results. Vendors who pay us appear in clearly labeled “Featured” rows; they never bend the ranking of regular search.
What we don’t do
- We don’t self-attest kosher certifications. Hechshers are checked against the certifying body’s published list.
- We don’t hide pricing or push you into a lead form to see basic info.
- We don’t accept reviews from anyone who can’t prove they were at the event.
- We don’t pretend a vendor is “Verified” until we’ve actually verified them.
Verification tiers
Every listing carries one of four tiers, visible on the vendor page:
- Unverified — sourced from public directories. We have not yet contacted the vendor.
- Vendor-confirmed — the vendor has claimed the listing and confirmed their info.
- Verified — our editorial team has hand-checked their license, hechsher (if catering), and core details.
- Editor’s Pick — verified plus reputation-vetted by three independent references.
Where we are
NY Metro is live. South Florida launches Q2 2026; Philadelphia and Los Angeles follow in Q3. We don’t claim “nationwide” coverage until we’ve hand-verified at least 1,500 vendors across four metros.
How we make money
Free directory listings stay free, forever. Vendors who want extras — lead routing, calendar sync, deposit collection, a clearly-labeled Featured slot — pay a flat monthly fee for our Vendor Pack. That revenue does not influence search ranking, ever.
We also run modest affiliate links to invitation services and event insurance providers. Those are noted on the linked pages.
