Synagogues / Chabad

Chabadsynagogues hosting bar & bat mitzvahs.

Chabad Houses follow Orthodox practice — the bar mitzvah boy reads from the Torah, services are in Hebrew with mechitza seating, and the Shabbat-morning service runs about three hours. Where Chabad is distinctive is the wide-open welcome: even unaffiliated and non-observant families are warmly invited, and the rabbi often spends substantial one-on-one time preparing the bar mitzvah boy regardless of background. Bat mitzvahs in Chabad are celebrated separately — typically a Sunday gathering with a d'var Torah, a women's Tehillim study, and a luncheon. Saturday-night parties are standard and require strict kosher catering (the Chabad rabbi can usually recommend caterers their community trusts).
