Sephardicsynagogues hosting bar & bat mitzvahs.
Sephardic congregations follow the traditions of Spanish, Portuguese, Middle Eastern, North African, and Mizrahi Jewish communities — the liturgy, melodies, and Torah-reading style (Sephardic trope) differ noticeably from Ashkenazi practice. The bar mitzvah service typically follows Orthodox structure with mechitza seating and a full Torah reading by the bar mitzvah boy, plus the Haftarah. Many Sephardic communities place strong emphasis on family — large extended-family attendance is the norm, and the celebration often spans Friday-night dinner, Shabbat-morning service-and-kiddush, and a Saturday-night party. Catering traditions vary by community of origin (Syrian, Persian, Moroccan, Bukharian) and are often a major point of family pride at the reception.
